Speak Bisaya is an online Cebuano/Bisaya language-learning service. Verified trader/operator and contact information is published on Business & Operator Details. By creating an account, starting a trial, buying Premium, submitting content or using account-based features, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Our Cookie Notice and Learning and Technology Disclaimer also form part of the information we provide about the service.

If a mandatory law gives you rights that these Terms cannot exclude or restrict, that law prevails. Nothing in these Terms removes statutory consumer, privacy or cancellation rights.

You must be at least 13 to create a Speak Bisaya account. If you are aged 13–15, a parent or legal guardian must authorise and supervise the account and be responsible for any subscription. If local law requires an older age before you can independently consent to data processing or enter this agreement, parent/guardian authorisation is required until that age.

Children under 13 must not create an account or submit personal information to Speak Bisaya. They may use public, no-account educational material only with appropriate adult supervision and should not use account, microphone-upload, support, community-nomination or contributor features.

Speak Bisaya is an educational service that may be attractive to children. We therefore aim to use high-privacy defaults, minimise personal data, avoid behavioural advertising and provide age-appropriate notices.

Speak Bisaya provides free public learning and optional Premium lessons, listening, speaking, review, games, stories, conversation practice, dictionaries, cultural material and other educational tools. Course content and functionality may be corrected, expanded, replaced, reorganised or discontinued as the service improves.

Speak Bisaya does not guarantee fluency, a particular accent, examination results, employment, immigration eligibility, academic credit, professional competence or any particular learning outcome. Certificates and progress indicators are records of activity or achievement inside Speak Bisaya and are not government, university or professional qualifications unless expressly stated otherwise.

Cebuano/Bisaya varies naturally by place, speaker and context. Translations, cultural notes, suggested replies, pronunciation scores, speech matching, placement results and automated feedback are educational aids and may contain errors or regional differences.

Bibo, conversation tools and some translation, speech or content workflows may use automated or AI-assisted systems. Outputs are not guaranteed to be complete, current or correct and must not be relied upon as legal, medical, financial, immigration, safety-critical or other professional advice. Important information should be independently checked.

Pronunciation and speech results can be affected by accent, microphone quality, browser speech recognition, noise, connection quality and the reference recording. A score is not a scientific judgment of a person's identity, intelligence or ability.

You must provide accurate account information, keep your sign-in credentials secure and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.

Recorder, reviewer and administrator accounts are role-restricted and must not be shared. We may temporarily restrict access where reasonably necessary to investigate fraud, abuse, payment disputes, security risks or legal requirements.

Current price, billing currency, billing interval, trial eligibility, trial length, taxes (where applicable), renewal price and the date or method for determining the first charge are shown before checkout. Stripe processes payment information. Speak Bisaya does not store full card numbers.

Where a free Premium trial is offered, a payment method may be required. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the selected paid subscription begins automatically and Stripe charges the amount disclosed at checkout. A free trial is available only where the account is shown as eligible and is normally limited to one trial per learner/account. Cancelling a trial does not create a right to start another trial.

Paid subscriptions renew automatically for the selected monthly or annual period until cancelled. Renewal terms are disclosed before purchase. Where law requires renewal reminders, cooling-off notices or additional cancellation rights, we will provide them.

You can turn off future renewal through the Billing area and Stripe billing portal. Online subscriptions can be cancelled online without requiring a telephone call or unnecessary retention steps. Unless local law or a refund requires earlier termination, cancelling normally leaves paid access available until the end of the current paid period. If you cancel during a free trial, Premium access may continue until the scheduled trial end and no paid renewal will be taken.

Consumers may have additional statutory withdrawal, cooling-off, renewal-cancellation or refund rights. This includes rights that may apply under UK consumer law, European Union and EEA consumer law, US federal or state automatic-renewal/negative-option laws, Philippine consumer law, and equivalent laws elsewhere. We will honour mandatory rights even if they are more favourable than these Terms.

If a charge is incorrect, duplicated, unauthorised or subject to a statutory refund right, contact Support promptly. Nothing here restricts your right to contact your card provider, payment provider, consumer authority or other regulator.

Prices may vary by plan, currency, territory, promotion or applicable tax. The amount displayed at checkout controls for that purchase. Introductory or discount codes may be limited to a particular plan, first payment, user or period and may not be combined unless expressly stated.

We may change future subscription prices by giving any notice required by law. A price change does not retrospectively alter an amount already paid.

• Do not bypass subscription controls, access another person's account, probe private data, interfere with security, introduce malware or deliberately overload the service.
• Do not upload or submit unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, exploitative, deceptive, defamatory, infringing or privacy-invasive material.
• Do not use Bibo, community forms, support or recorder tools to harass people, obtain prohibited personal information, facilitate wrongdoing or evade safeguards.
• Do not scrape, copy, resell, republish or commercially exploit substantial parts of the curriculum, recordings, software, database or design except where applicable law expressly permits it.
• Do not impersonate a learner, contributor, nominee, reviewer, administrator or other person.

Speak Bisaya and its licensors retain all rights in the app, brand, curriculum, software, original writing, databases, graphics and licensed or commissioned audio except where stated otherwise. Third-party names, marks, photographs, videos and embedded material remain the property of their respective owners.

You retain ownership of original material you submit. You grant Speak Bisaya a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, process and display that material only as reasonably needed to provide, secure, moderate and improve the service or fulfil the purpose for which it was submitted. You confirm you have the right to submit it.

Invited voice contributors are subject to their recorder/contributor arrangement in addition to these Terms. Unless that arrangement says otherwise, submitted recordings may be stored, cleaned, trimmed, noise-reduced, quality-reviewed, edited for technical presentation, versioned, synchronised with lesson content and published throughout Speak Bisaya.

A contributor must not submit recordings they do not have authority to provide. Personal biographical statements should be accurate. Speak Bisaya may reject, unpublish or replace recordings for quality, accuracy, safeguarding, rights or legal reasons.

Anyone may submit a community-support nomination, subject to the form requirements. A nomination is a request for private review and does not guarantee publication, voting, selection, payment or assistance. We may verify information, seek consent, reject or pause a nomination, or withhold support where necessary for safeguarding, fraud prevention, legality, dignity or practical feasibility.

Speak Bisaya currently commits 50% of its net profits to supporting native Bisaya speakers and communities in genuine need. “Net profits” means revenue actually received by the business after legitimate operating expenses, payment processing, taxes, refunds, chargebacks, infrastructure, content production, professional costs and other ordinary costs of operating Speak Bisaya are accounted for. This is a business commitment, not a charitable donation made by each subscriber, not an investment, and does not give a subscriber ownership of or an enforceable entitlement to a particular beneficiary, payment or voting outcome.

The service may rely on or link to third parties including Base44, Stripe, authentication providers, speech services, video platforms and other content providers. Their services may be governed by separate terms and privacy notices. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control, but this does not remove any liability that applicable law places on us.

References to Duolingo or other third-party products are for commentary, comparison or search relevance. Speak Bisaya is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Duolingo or its owners unless expressly stated.

We aim to provide a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability. Maintenance, provider outages, device limitations, internet conditions, security incidents or force-majeure events may temporarily affect access. We may correct mistakes or remove unsafe, unlawful, obsolete or inaccurate material without notice where appropriate.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence where such liability cannot be excluded, or mandatory consumer rights.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Speak Bisaya is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you entered the contract, or losses caused solely by circumstances outside our reasonable control. Different jurisdictions may not allow some exclusions, in which case the relevant exclusion applies only to the extent lawful there.

You may stop using Speak Bisaya, cancel Premium and request account deletion. We may suspend or terminate access for serious or repeated breach, fraud, non-payment, chargeback abuse, security threats, infringement, safeguarding concerns or legal obligations. Where reasonable and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

Deletion does not require us to erase information that we must retain for tax, fraud prevention, transaction evidence, legal claims, security or other lawful purposes. See the Privacy Policy for retention details.

Please contact Support first so we can try to resolve a complaint quickly. You may also complain to or seek assistance from any consumer, privacy, payment or judicial body that has jurisdiction over you. Nothing in these Terms requires a consumer to give up a mandatory right to bring a claim in their home jurisdiction.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, except that consumers retain the benefit of mandatory protections provided by the law of the country or state where they habitually reside when those protections cannot lawfully be waived. Courts and regulators with mandatory jurisdiction remain available to you.

We may update these Terms to reflect legal, security, payment or product changes. We will update the date shown on the page and give additional notice where required. Material changes will not retrospectively remove rights you already acquired, and fresh consent will be obtained where law requires it.
